Bantwal: MP Capt Brijesh Chowta inaugurates 3 TPD MRF Unit in Vittal

Bantwal, Oct 2: Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta inaugurated a newly constructed Material Recovery Facility (MRF) unit in Vittal town panchayat limits on Friday.

The facility has been established at a cost of Rs 60.10 lac under the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 and other centrally sponsored schemes. The unit has a capacity to process three tonnes per day (TPD) of dry waste and is aimed at introducing a scientific system for the collection and disposal of dry waste in Vittal town panchayat limits.

Speaking after inaugurating the facility, Capt Brijesh Chowta said scientific waste management would help effectively prevent environmental pollution. He said collecting and disposing of dry waste through modern systems would also create local employment opportunities and help generate economic resources.

He said modern infrastructure should be developed at the village and town levels to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’. The Rs 60.10 lac project would pave the way for transforming Vittal town panchayat into a model and self-reliant town, he said.

Town Panchayat officials were present during the inauguration.

Following the programme, as part of the Seva Sankalpa campaign marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service, Capt Chowta planted and watered saplings with party workers at booth number 5 in Palike under the Vittal Mahashakti Kendra of the BJP Puttur Rural Mandal.

Town panchayat president Karunakara, vice-president Sangeetha Panemajalu, standing committee president Ashok Kumar Shetty, Agricultural Credit Cooperative Society president Narsappa Poojary, BJP leaders Devappa Poojary, Sanjay Prabhu, Prasanna Darbe, Nithesh Kumar Shanthivana, Hariprasad Yadav, Vidyadhar Jain, Srikrishna Vittal, Preetham Poonja, Uday Alangar and Harish C H were present.
