Bantwal, Sept 25: Bantwal Rural police have arrested three men in connection with an alleged sword and iron rod attack that left a 41-year-old man seriously injured at Kammaje in Tenka Bellur village on September 20.
According to a complaint lodged by Prashanth Belchad, 41, a resident of Tenka Bellur village in Bantwal, he was at Kammaje on the evening of September 20 when the three accused, who were known to him, allegedly arrived in an autorickshaw and attacked him with a sword and an iron rod.
The accused have been identified as Prashanth, 38, a resident of Ammunje in Bantwal; Ramadas, 43, a resident of Tenka Bellur; and Shankar, 45, a resident of Badaga Bellur in Bantwal.
The attack allegedly caused the complainant severe bleeding injuries. The accused reportedly fled the spot after noticing people known to the complainant approaching. The injured man was subsequently admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru, according to the complaint.
Based on the complaint, Bantwal Rural police registered Crime No. 124/2026 under Sections 109, 352 and 351 read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
During the investigation, police arrested Prashanth, Ramdas and Shankar and produced them before the competent court on September 25.
The court remanded all three accused to three days of police custody for further investigation.
