New Delhi, Jul 2: Star India batter Virat Kohli has resumed training ahead of the three-match ODI series against England beginning July 14, although his participation remains subject to fitness clearance after missing the recent home series against Afghanistan.
A video circulating on social media showed Kohli arriving at a training venue carrying his kit bag before meeting former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar. The two were seen discussing the training schedule at the centre of the ground, following which Kohli underwent an extended practice session.

If declared fit, the 37-year-old is expected to return to India's playing XI at the No. 3 position. The series would also mark his first international appearance since India's Champions Trophy campaign.
According to media reports, Kohli recently completed a training camp in Alibaug and Mumbai under Bangar's guidance, focusing on technical improvements ahead of the England tour. Bangar served as India's batting coach between 2014 and 2019, a period during which Kohli established himself as one of the world's leading batters. The pair have continued to work together on several occasions since then.
Meanwhile, speculation over the international future of Kohli and India captain Rohit Sharma has continued since last year's series against Australia, with reports suggesting the veteran duo could be nearing retirement. However, neither player has commented publicly on the speculation.
The debate intensified after Rohit endured a disappointing start to the Afghanistan ODI series, prompting fresh reports about his future. Despite the scrutiny, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) retained him for the England series as he continues his preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
While Rohit faces increasing competition from young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, Kohli continues to enjoy the confidence of the team management, having consistently delivered in ODI cricket.
Nevertheless, with the former captain now 37, the England series is expected to provide selectors with an opportunity to assess his form and fitness ahead of future assignments.
