Gurugram, Jun 13: A private hospital in Gurugram has launched India’s first Centre of Excellence for Myeloma and Lymphoma, a specialised initiative aimed at transforming blood cancer care through a patient-centric, research-driven and multidisciplinary approach.

Established at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, the Centre is built around the philosophy of “One Disease. One Doctor. One Focus” and brings together experts, advanced diagnostics, precision medicine, stem cell transplantation, cellular therapies, clinical research and comprehensive patient support services under a single integrated platform.

Among the first dedicated disease-focused centres in the country, the facility has been designed to address the growing complexity of blood cancer treatment through personalised care pathways and seamless collaboration among specialists. The initiative aims to improve clinical outcomes, expand access to innovative therapies, strengthen translational research and establish new benchmarks in the treatment of myeloma and lymphoma.

Speaking at the launch, Rahul Bhargava, Principal Director and Chief of Hematology, Hemato-Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, said the centre marked a major step forward in providing highly specialised care for patients battling complex blood cancers.

He said the initiative brings together experts from genomics, genetics, pathology, translational science, data analytics, hematology, radiation oncology, cellular therapy, CAR-T therapy and clinical research, enabling scientific discoveries to be translated rapidly into personalised treatment strategies.

“Our vision is to bring the right expertise together at the right time for every patient and redefine the future of blood cancer care in India,” he said.

Highlighting the role of precision medicine, Shrinidhi Nathany, Consultant in Molecular Hematology and Oncology, said genomics is reshaping blood cancer treatment by helping doctors understand diseases at a molecular level.

He noted that advanced genomic profiling allows clinicians to identify actionable mutations, personalise therapies, monitor disease progression more accurately and connect patients to targeted treatments and clinical trials.

Meanwhile, Yash Rawat, Senior Vice President and SBU Head of Fortis Memorial Research Institute, said the launch represents a significant milestone in India’s hematology landscape and strengthens the institute’s position as a leader in advanced cancer and transplant care.

According to the institute, the Centre is expected to emerge as a national referral hub for patients seeking specialised treatment for myeloma and lymphoma, while also contributing to clinical research, physician education and the development of future standards of care in hematologic oncology.
