Shivamogga, Jul 28: The diocese of Shimoga celebrated Grandparents' Day with devotion and joy on July 26, in all its parishes, coinciding with the 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Special Holy Eucharist celebrations were offered for grandparents and senior citizens, recognizing their vital role in passing on the faith and Christian values to younger generations.
Following the Eucharistic celebrations, parishes organized brief felicitation programmes, during which grandparents and the elderly were honoured and blessed in appreciation of their love, sacrifices, wisdom, and enduring witness of faith.
















































The celebrations were held in Christ the King Church, Jog Falls; Good Shepherd Church, Gopala; Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Church, Kargal; St Paul the Hermit Church, Thandagunda; St Anthony Church, Hosadurga; St Anthony Church, Hosanagara; Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Church, Malur; Holy Family Church, Thandagunda; St Anthony's Church, Ragigudda; Sacred Heart Church, Timmappayanahalli (Chitradurga District); Little Flower Theresa Church, Shikaripura; and Sacred Heart Cathedral, Shivamogga.
The diocese expresses its sincere appreciation to all parish priests, parish pastoral council members, volunteers, and parishioners whose dedicated efforts made the celebration a meaningful and memorable occasion. The observance served as a beautiful reminder of the priceless gift of grandparents and the elderly, whose faith, wisdom, and example continue to enrich families and the Church.
