Mangaluru, Jun 2: Amid discussions surrounding a possible cabinet reshuffle in Karnataka and reports suggesting that Legislative Assembly Speaker U T Khader may be considered for the post of deputy chief minister, Khader said he has no information regarding such developments.

Speaking to mediapersons in Mangaluru, Khader said, "I have seen the reports in the media, but I have not received any information about it."

He stated that he continues to serve as the Speaker and has no aspirations for any particular position.

"The decision on giving any post or responsibility rests with the government and the party," he said.

Khader recalled that in 2023 there had been discussions about him becoming a minister, but instead he was entrusted with the responsibility of Speaker.

"I have discharged that responsibility with sincerity," he said.

Emphasizing his commitment to public service, Khader remarked, "The portfolio is not important to me; work is important."

He further said that he would speak on political matters after demitting the office of Speaker.

Khader also informed that he would be in Bengaluru today and tomorrow.

"I am happy serving as the Speaker," he said, adding that every legislator would like to become Speaker at least once in their lifetime.

"Our party, workers and voters have helped us grow to this position," he added.
