Kasargod, Oct 3: A 51-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her house at Lenkinadka in Kudal Merkala within the limits of Kumbla police station.

The deceased has been identified as Savitha (51).

Savitha was found dead on Saturday morning. The incident came to light after Chenappa, a native of Shivamogga in Karnataka who was living with her, informed the neighbours.

Savitha’s body was found on a bed placed in the verandah of the house.

Injuries were found on Savitha’s hands and legs, raising several suspicions regarding her death.

After receiving the information, a police team led by Kumbla police station Inspector R P Anoop Krishna immediately visited the spot and conducted an inspection.

Savitha and Chenappa were living in a house constructed years ago under the Life Mission scheme. It is learnt that Chenappa had been living with Savitha for the past 16 years.

The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained. Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to her death. The exact cause is expected to become clear after the post-mortem examination report is received.
