Mangaluru: ‘Binaca Geetmala’ musical evening to pay tribute to Ameen Sayani on May 30

Mangaluru, May 28: Lions Club Mangaluru, in association with Lions Prakostha and Lions District 317D, will organise a prestigious musical programme titled “Suhana Safar and Binaca Geetmala” on Saturday, May 30, at Sujir C V Nayak Hall in the city.

Addressing media persons at the Press Club, Lions Prakostha District chairman L Kumble Narasimha Prabhu said the inaugural ceremony will be held from 5 pm to 5.45 pm, followed by the “Binaca Geetmala” musical programme from 5.45 pm to 8.45 pm.

He said noted personalities including Walter Nandalike, M Govardhan Shetty, Giridhar Prabhu, Dr Kumble Ananth Prabhu, Dr Krishna Prasad Koodu, Dr K Mohan Pai, Raghavendra Kudva and Kumble Vippesh Prabhu will participate as chief guests.

The programme will feature a special tribute to legendary radio announcer and presenter Ameen Sayani. Popular songs from the iconic “Binaca Geetmala” programme aired between 1954 and 1979 will be presented during the event.

Dr Kumble Ananth Prabhu and Malini Keshav Prasad, winners of the “Eternal Voice of Doctors Worldwide” competition, will be the lead singers for the evening. The programme will be compered by Kumble Narasimha Prabhu, while Muraleedhar Kamath and team will provide live orchestral music.

Lions Club Mangaluru president L M Rajesh and prominent member L Venkatesh Baliga were present at the press meet.
