Udupi, May 24: A case has been registered at the Udupi city police station following an alleged assault on a bakery owner near Karavali Bypass in Moodanidambur village.
According to the complaint filed by Muralidhar (35) of Kidiyoor village, he has been running 'Pooja Bakery' on the ground floor of the Sagar Ganga building near Karavali Bypass for the past 20 years. Adjacent to his shop, a person identified as Ashok has reportedly been operating 'Krishna Bakery' for the past one year.



The incident allegedly took place on May 23 at around 12:30 pm while Muralidhar was attending to customers at his bakery. Ashok is accused of suddenly approaching the shop, verbally abusing him, and unlawfully entering the premises. The complainant alleged that Ashok grabbed his collar, assaulted him on the cheek and neck, and kicked him to the ground.
When Muralidhar attempted to get up, the accused allegedly attacked him with a knife, stabbing him in the chest and neck, causing internal injuries.
Based on the complaint, the Udupi city police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
