Mangaluru, Apr 9: The body of 30-year-old Kowshik Belchada, who had reportedly jumped into the Phalguni river from the Gurupura bridge on Wednesday evening, was recovered on Thursday, April 9 afternoon.
Kowshik, a resident of Kaje Paddayibettu, had arrived at the bridge on his scooter around 6:30 pm on Wednesday. He reportedly parked his vehicle on the bridge before jumping into the river. Due to failing light and darkness, a full-scale search operation could not be conducted on Wednesday night.

On Thursday morning, personnel from the Mangaluru Fire Brigade launched a search operation. Diving experts from Panemangalore also joined the efforts. After a thorough search near the bridge pillars, the divers managed to locate and retrieve the body.
The Bajpe police, who had earlier seized the scooter found on the bridge, have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
