Among those who cleared the examination are several candidates who have achieved success despite poverty and hardships. One such achiever is Sagar, the son of a farmer from Kolar, who cleared the UPSC while continuing in government service.
A few years ago, Sagar joined service as a staff member at Vidhana Soudha. About a year ago, he was appointed as a police sub-inspector (PSI). Now, he has successfully cleared the UPSC examination with a good rank. His achievement stands as the story of a farmer’s son who cleared the UPSC through consistent effort and determination.

Bengaluru police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh congratulated PSI Sagar for clearing the UPSC examination. Sagar secured Rank 641 in the UPSC and was serving as a PSI at the Wilson Garden police station. Prior to this, he had worked as an assistant supervisor at Vidhana Soudha.
Sagar, who was appointed as PSI only last year, completed his training and recently reported for duty at the Wilson Garden police station. Despite being on duty, he continued his preparation and appeared for the UPSC examination, securing the 641st rank.
Sagar hails from a small village in Kolar district. The farmer’s son has achieved success by securing a good rank in the UPSC examination. This year, five candidates from Kolar, a region known for its farmers and dairy producers in the Bayaluseeme belt, secured ranks in the UPSC examination, giving the district the distinction of having the highest number of successful candidates in the state.
The UPSC Civil Services Examination is considered one of the toughest competitive examinations in India. Candidates selected in the final list this year from across the country will be recommended for allocation to various services.
