Mangaluru, Mar 14: Railway police have successfully recovered a stolen mobile phone and handed it over to its rightful owner.

The mobile phone was recovered by the railway police based on a complaint registered through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal and information provided by cyber cell officer Anil Sen.

The mobile phone (Realme P-3) belonging to Ajit had been stolen in May 2025. The theft occurred while he was travelling with his family from Mumbai to Thiruvananthapuram, during which the mobile phone along with Rs 25,000 in cash and other belongings was stolen.

A complaint had been lodged with the Railway Protection Force regarding the incident. Acting on the complaint, the cyber cell police launched an operation and traced the mobile phone to Arkula.

During the operation, the mobile phone was found with a person named Ansar, who runs a mobile shop in Arkula. During interrogation, it was revealed that a person named Prahlad, a native of Udupi, had sold the phone to Ansar for Rs 5,000.

The recovered mobile phone has now been handed over to the owner through the complainant’s relative, Vikas Trilok Kumar, a resident of Mumbai, by the railway police.
