Udupi, Dec 5: As part of the long-standing classroom connect education exchange programme with Hutchesons’ Grammar School, Glasgow, Scotland (UK), established in 2007, a delegation of students and teachers from Scotland visited Dr N Shankara Adyanthaya Memorial English Medium High School, Nitte, Karkala. The team, comprising four pupils and two teachers, also toured various places in Udupi as part of their cultural and educational immersion.
To provide them with meaningful exposure to the region’s heritage and learning environment, the visitors accompanied by two teachers and five students from the host school visited Samskriti Sampada, the renowned artefacts collection at St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady, Udupi, on December 4.

During their visit, the Scottish delegation also had engaging interactions with the students of the school. They held detailed discussions with principal Fr Vijay Joyson D’Souza with regard to the school’s education system, history, student strength, faculty structure, and overall academic environment. The team also visited the school library, where they expressed great interest in the resources and facilities available to students.
The visitors were deeply impressed by the warm hospitality extended to them and were particularly amazed by the vibrant campus atmosphere and the large student strength. The Scottish pupils, who are in the 11th grade and aged between 15 and 16 year, had the opportunity to explore a diverse range of artefacts showcasing the cultural richness and historical legacy of the region. The visit provided them with valuable insights into local traditions, craftsmanship, and heritage, there by fostering deeper intercultural understanding and strengthening the spirit of global collaboration.
