Mangaluru, Jul 25: District in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Friday asserted that developmental works across Dakshina Kannada will be carried out in a non-partisan manner, giving equal importance to all areas irrespective of political affiliations.
He was speaking after inaugurating the new building of the D Devaraj Urs Bhavan at Urwa Store and the new Indira Gandhi Women’s Nursing Hostel. He also laid the foundation stone for the new buildings of the D Devaraj Urs Post-Matric Girls Hostel and a model post-matric girls hostel.








“All areas of the district will be considered equally while implementing government projects and works. The ultimate goal is the welfare and upliftment of people. We aim to move forward by earning the trust of all communities,” the minister said.
He added that new hostel buildings worth approximately Rs 5 cr were inaugurated on the occasion and foundation stones were laid for two additional hostels. “The district hosts a large number of educational institutions, attracting students from various other districts. With increasing demand for hostel accommodation, the government will accord priority to addressing the need,” he assured.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment, the minister mentioned initiatives such as free bus travel and a monthly allowance of Rs 2,000 for eligible girl students to support self-reliance.
MLA Vedavyas Kamath presided over the event. MLC Ivan D’Souza, Karnataka Sandalwood Development Corporation chairperson Mamatha D S Gatti, MUDA chairman Sadashiva Ullal, Karnataka Arebhashe Culture and Literature Academy president Sadananda Mavanji, deputy commissioner Darshan H V, zilla panchayat CEO Narvade Vinayak Karbari, and backward classes welfare department district officer Bindiya N Nayak were present.
