Kaup, June 22: Coastal Development Authority president M A Gafoor escaped with minor injuries after the car in which he was travelling was involved in a multi-vehicle accident on National Highway 66 near Pangala in Kaup on Monday.

According to sources, Gafoor was travelling from Mangaluru to Udupi when the accident occurred. The vehicle carrying him was among three cars involved in the crash.

Though the impact resulted in damage to the vehicles, Gafoor reportedly sustained only minor injuries. No information was immediately available regarding injuries to occupants of the other vehicles involved in the accident.

The circumstances leading to the collision were not immediately known, and details regarding the sequence of events are yet to emerge.

The accident caused a brief commotion on the busy highway as local residents and motorists gathered at the spot. Authorities are expected to ascertain the exact cause of the crash following further inquiry.
