Vaibhav Mania grips fans as 14-year-old cricket prodigy breaks records

Mumbai, Jul 16: Teenage cricket sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi is taking the sporting world by storm with his extraordinary performances and growing fan base. The 14-year-old left-handed batter, who was picked for a staggering Rs 1.1 cr in the IPL 2025 auction, has lived up to the hype with his consistent brilliance on the field.

In his debut IPL season, representing Rajasthan Royals, Suryavanshi smashed 252 runs in just seven matches and etched his name in history by becoming the fastest Indian to score a century in the tournament—achieving the feat in only 35 balls.

Post IPL, the young star continued to impress in the Youth ODI series against England with scores of 48, 45, 86, 143, and 33, and later followed it up with 14 and 56 in the first Youth Test. His remarkable consistency at such a young age has drawn comparisons and caution, with fans hoping he avoids the pitfalls that affected the careers of previous prodigies like Prithvi Shaw.

Vaibhav’s growing stardom was recently highlighted by an emotional fan moment in Worcester, where two young girls, Aanya and Rivaa, drove six hours just to meet him. Dressed in Rajasthan Royals jerseys, the girls—around the same age as Vaibhav—fulfilled their dream of taking a picture with the young star.

“Proof why we have the best fans,” the Rajasthan Royals wrote on their official X handle. “Drove for 6 hours to Worcester. Wore their Pink. Cheered for Vaibhav & Team India. Aanya and Rivaa had a day to remember.”

With his bat doing the talking and his popularity soaring, Vaibhav Suryavanshi looks all set to become Indian cricket’s next big thing.
