Puttur: BJP leader’s son goes missing after girl gives birth; victim’s mother demands justice

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur

Puttur, June 30: The mother of a young woman who recently gave birth after allegedly being sexually exploited by a BJP leader’s son under the false promise of marriage has come forward demanding justice.

The accused, Krishna J Rao, son of BJP leader P G Jagannivasa Rao, is currently absconding, and the victim’s family alleges both political pressure and police inaction.

Speaking to media in Puttur, the mother said her daughter, a student, had been in a relationship with Krishna since their high school days. The relationship reportedly turned physical with the assurance that he would marry her. However, when the girl became pregnant, the family only learned about it in the seventh month of her pregnancy.

“When I approached Krishna’s father, he promised to get them married,” the mother said. “But soon after, Krishna himself called and threatened that if we insisted on marriage, he would die by suicide.”

The family then approached the Puttur Women’s police station to file a complaint. There, the accused’s father, P G Jagannivasa Rao, allegedly contacted MLA Ashok Kumar Rai via phone. The victim’s mother claims the MLA personally asked her not to file a complaint, assuring her that the marriage would be arranged, and citing concern for the boy’s future.

Further, the family said Jagannivasa Rao provided a written assurance at the station agreeing to the marriage. But on June 22, just a day before Krishna turned 21, he reportedly called again and refused to marry the girl. His mother allegedly told them that the marriage would “never happen, even in dreams.” The family was also allegedly offered money to abort the child, which they declined.

The girl went on to deliver the baby. The family maintains that Krishna is the father and has agreed to undergo DNA testing. However, Jagannivasa Rao reportedly objected to the test and instead suggested that Krishna take an oath before the Mahalingeshwara Temple declaring the child isn’t his. The family has decided to proceed with DNA testing after the child turns three months old.

'MLA Ashok Rai, right wing leaders Arun, Puthila, Sharan Pumpwell also did not support'

The victim’s mother also stated that when they first attempted legal action, MLA Ashok Rai discouraged them. When they approached Hindu leaders Arun Kumar Puthila, Muralikrishna Hasantadka, and Sharan Pumpwell for help, they claim to have received no support. “Arun Puthila refused to intervene, Muralikrishna said the boy won’t agree, and later even suggested a settlement of Rs 10 lac to abort the child,” she alleged.

“Had my daughter been from another community, this marriage would have already been arranged,” the mother said, accusing local leaders of indifference due to the girl’s caste and background.

Despite five days passing since Krishna reportedly went missing, police have yet to arrest him. The family has also met the superintendent of police, but claims the police department has remained silent, deepening their frustration.

The victim’s mother has appealed to authorities and the public to help secure justice for her daughter and the newborn child.

Verily, verily it is not a fair one. Instead of marrying the girl the boy, Krishna evaded from taking responsibility. For enjoying any caste girl will be ok. However for genealogy, higher castes need higher caste only. Very Unfair.
