Bengaluru, May 15: A 25-year-old software engineer working in the city was arrested by the Whitefield police after he allegedly raised pro-Pakistan slogans from the balcony of his paying guest accommodation, coinciding with local celebrations over the Indian Army’s Operation Sindoor on May 9.

The accused, identified as Shubhamshu Shukla from Chhattisgarh, is employed at an IT firm and resides in a PG facility in Prashanth Layout. The incident reportedly occurred around 12:30 am, when residents were marking the success of the recent military operation.

According to the police, Shukla and a friend were seen on their balcony when he allegedly shouted “Pakistan Zindabad,” drawing the attention of neighbours. A resident from a nearby house captured the incident on video and promptly notified the authorities.

Both Shukla and his friend were taken in for questioning. During interrogation, Shukla admitted to making the controversial slogans. Following this, he was arrested and sent to judicial custody.

He has been charged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 353(3) for making statements likely to cause public mischief, and Section 152 for actions deemed harmful to national integrity.
