Mangaluru, Jan 17: In light of the cooperative bank robbery in Kotekar, Ullal, the chief minister held an emergency meeting with senior police officials in Mangaluru, directing them to ensure the immediate apprehension of the accused.

Following the conclusion of a program by the department of medical education, the chief minister convened the meeting, which was attended by Western Range IGP Amit, police commissioner Kuldeep Kumar R Jain, SP Rishikesh Sonawane, and other senior officials.

After being briefed on the incident, the chief minister questioned the officials sternly, asking, “With all of you here, how did this happen? How did the accused manage to escape so easily? How many toll booths did they cross? Why weren’t the toll booths secured promptly?”

Police officials informed the chief minister that there was no security personnel present at the cooperative bank during the incident. Only five to six bank staff were on duty, and it was reported that the accused spoke in Kannada and Hindi.

The chief minister instructed officials to conduct strict checks at all toll booths and set up roadblocks across four districts. He urged them to arrest the culprits at the earliest and initiate stringent legal action against them.
