Bengaluru, Apr 30: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Modi for his recent speech in Karnataka, where he addressed an election rally and asserted that women are not safe under the Karnataka government. PM Modi had urged the people of Karnataka to vote for the BJP to ensure their safety and strengthen his position.
Addressing a packed crowd, Priyanka Gandhi launched a scathing attack on PM Modi, countering his claims. She also brought up the sex scandal involving Prajwal Revanna, the BJP-JD(S) Hassan Lok Sabha candidate, aiming to challenge the BJP's moral high ground on the issue of women's safety.
She said, "PM Modi wants every election to be fought on Hindu-Muslim basis. He has been in power for 10 years but has not done a single thing. That is why he does not have the courage to talk about his work when it comes to elections. He should tell you how many jobs he has created, how many people he has educated, and how many institutions he has opened. These days he talks about my sisters, your 'Mangalasutra’, and your jewellery. I want to ask him where he was when our Olympic medallists were tortured, when women were raped in Hathras and Unnao, and when women were burnt. Whose side did Modiji speak on? Did he speak on the side of women? Did Modi's government protect those criminals?
"I want to ask the PM. In Karnataka, a very big scandal has come out connected to the people who were with him on the stage, for whom Modiji asked for votes. They committed atrocities with thousands of women. I want to ask Modiji, what he says about this. What does our home minister say about this? Some time ago, I went to meet my daughter for 3 days. The prime minister and home minister said that Priyanka Gandhi had gone abroad. They know where the opposition leaders go but have no information when a criminal leaves the country. They say they do not know. How can we believe this? All information goes to them. All leaders are monitored, who is going where and what they are doing? And with such a big crime happening under their nose, someone ran away from the country, and he is not saying anything. Sisters, ask him to answer. Ask him questions. Modiji should not have the courage to talk about someone's marriage until this criminal comes back.
"The prime minister is responsible for this country. We have seen many prime ministers. We have seen Indiraji, we have seen Jawaharlal Nehru, we have seen Rajiv Gandhi, we have seen Manmohan Singh, and we have seen Vajpayeeji, who was the prime minister from the BJP. I want to ask PM Modi, what have you done for the safety of women? Sisters, what have they done for your safety? They have weakened you at every level. You tell me, how many universities have you opened?" she questioned.
