Lucknow, Oct 6: India will face the West Indies in the opening match of the five-match T20 International series at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday.

The match is scheduled to begin at 7 pm IST.

India enter the series on a strong note after winning gold at the 2026 Asian Games and securing a convincing 2-1 victory over the West Indies in the preceding three-match ODI series.

The hosts will look to carry their winning momentum into the T20I series, with 10 members of India's Asian Games squad included in the team. Three players from the ODI squad have also been retained for the T20 series.

The West Indies, meanwhile, have strengthened their squad with the inclusion of experienced T20 players Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell and Romario Shepherd, adding considerable power to their batting and all-round options.

After the series opener in Lucknow, the remaining four T20Is will be played in Ranchi, Indore, Hyderabad and Bengaluru on October 9, 11, 14 and 17 respectively.
