Udupi, Apr 29: Many people of Indian origin are occupying top positions in several companies in the US like Microsoft, Alta Bet, Novartis, Adobe and IBM. Now Karthik Rau, a native of Udupi has been appointed as CEO of Contentful company of USA.

Karthik Rau (46), son of late Dr Subramanya Rau, a resident of Moodu Alevooru, who is residing in California has been appointed as CEO effective April 11.

Karthik, who is born and brought up in the US completed his MS in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University. He has 20 years of work experience in various companies. He also founded Signal FX Cloud Monitoring Company. This company was recently taken over by Spunk for $1.05 billion.

Karthik, who was the vice president of product management and worldwide marketing of VM Ware company played a stellar role in the development of the company. The administrative board of Contentful of USA (Denver, San Fransisco and Berlin) has appointed Karthik as its CEO.

Late G Laxminarayana, grandfather of Karthik was the chairman and MD of Indian Bank and was settled in Chennai. Karthik’s father late Dr L Subramanya Rau had secured a gold medal in medicine from Stanley Medical College of Chennai. He was an oncologist in Annehalm of California while Karthik’s mother is Raji Rau. The Rau couple has two sons - Karthik and Ashok.
