Customs seize smuggled gold worth Rs 54.30 lac at Mangaluru International Airport

Mangaluru, Apr 29: Customs officials at the international airport in the city apprehended a man for attempting to smuggle 750 grams of 24-carat gold valued at Rs 54.3 lac.

The accused arrived on a flight from Dammam on April 27.

Due to his suspicious behaviour, he underwent physical frisking and machine scanning. During the search, three egg-shaped objects were discovered in his rectum.

He has been presented before the magistrate, and further investigation is underway as per the information provided by customs officials.
