Rs 45.7 lac worth smuggled gold seized at Mangaluru International Airport

Mangaluru, Apr 27: Customs officials at the international airport in the city confiscated gold worth Rs 45.7 lakh that was being illegally transported by a passenger on April 25.

The confiscated gold weighed 636 grams and was valued at Rs 45,79,200.

The passenger, originally from Dakshina Kannada district, arrived on Air India Express 814 to the airport.

Officials, noting his suspicious behaviour, subjected him to a body frisking, revealing that he had concealed the gold in his rectum.
