Udupi, Apr 26: A road accident took place on the highway from Mangaluru to Karkala when a speeding car lost control and crashed into an electric pole, claiming the life of a woman.
The victim, identified as Sumangala Abhyankar (51) was traveling from her residence in Kavoor, Mangalore, to attend an upanayanam ceremony in Karkala.
The car, driven by her husband Purushottam Abhyankar (61) was reportedly moving at a high speed along the state highway when the collision occurred.
The Padubidri police station has initiated an investigation into the incident.
