Madikeri, Nov 28: In an incident that has come to light, the public is searching for treasure in the place where a family lived before it died in the tragic landslide that occurred a few months ago.

In the month of August, a huge landslide occurred at Talakaveri, the place of origin of river Cauvery. The family of Talakaveri temple priest Narayana Achar perished in this landslide. Their bodies were recovered later.

It came to the knowledge of the public that the family of Narayana Achar was quite rich. They had around two kilos of gold and lac of rupees at their house, when the house collapsed in the landslide. It is also proven that they had blackgold or pepper and cardamom in stock in several quintals. It is said that all these went below the earth when the landslide took place. Now, it is being heard that many people are searching for these lost treasures during the night.

At around 6 pm, all the tourists vacate the spot. It is said that the treasure hunters start searching as the sun sets, using torches with very dim light. Chethan, a local, says that it is dangerous for people to venture out in such a hilly area at night. The remains of two cars and one bike, which Narayana Achar was using, are still lying near the area of landslide. In addition, even the clothes that were used by Achar's family are lying in the same spot.

Current priest of the temple Gururaj Achar says, "We live in a house that is remaining on the hill. But we have not seen anyone searching for the lost treasures."
