Wipro techies run in 110 cities to celebrate camaraderie


Bengaluru, Sep 22 (IANS): Celebrating the spirit of camaraderie, thousands of global software major Wipro's techies, their families, friends, alumni, customers, partners and suppliers ran for fun in 110 cities across 34 countries, said the IT behemoth on Sunday.

"The Spirit of Wipro run with a'#FurtherTogether' as the theme for the 14th consecutive year reinforced our core values to treat each person with respect, be global and responsible, and integrity in everything we do," said the city-based software vendor in a statement here.

The annual global event has brought people together as a community to bring change in society.

"The marathon is our annual, global tradition to remind that everyone can achieve if they apply their mind to it. We celebrate the spirit of Wiproites the world over on this special day," Chief Executive Abidali Z. Neemuchwala said in a statement.

As one of the largest employee engagement events the world over, the run has brought all stakeholders together for a common cause.

"The run is a testament of what the spirit of togetherness and collaboration can achieve," said Wipro chief HR officer Saurabh Govil.

The run was organised in 25 global cities and 15 Indian cities across the country.

Proceeds from the run are used by the company's community initiatives arm for causes identified by locations globally with a 100 per cent matching amount from the company.
