Mangaluru, Apr 12: The 11th edition of ‘Zephyr’, two-day national level PG management fest organised by the department of Business Administration of St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor, was inaugurated on Thursday, April 12.

P B Abdul Hameed, vice-president, Canara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mangaluru, was the chief guest of the inaugural programme. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, director, SJEC, presided over the inaugural ceremony. Fr Rohith D’Costa, assistant director, SJEC and Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, principal, SJEC were present on the dais.

Addressing the participants, P B Abdul Hameed said, “The term management is common these days. Every sector has a management division and it plans how to manage the process of a firm or an institution. In business, the term management has a wide scope and plays an essential role. Without right management, a business cannot survive. If a businessman wants success in his venture, he should follow three major requisites. First one is determination, the second one is consistency and third one is marketing. These three things are the basic for success in business.

“I congratulate the department of Business Administration of this college for holding this national level fest. The talents of management students will be showcased on this platform. These types of fests will help students not only in academics, but also in future after college. As for now, it will bring joy and pleasure in the students’ academic life,” he said.

Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza said, “First of all, I thank the department of Business Administration for organizing this fest. This fest is not only a part of the academic activities, but will be a platform for knowing each other and sharing ideas. Victory and loss is not important. The experience of participating in events is greater than winning. I request the participants to enjoy the event with good mood and take all results in a positive way.”

Sharon Anitha Lobo welcomed the dignitaries and delegates. Vinaya Prasad rendered the vote of thanks.

Students of over 20 colleges across Mangaluru will participate in the event. The two-day fiesta will be filled with a plethora of events that encompass various domains of management education.
