Kundapur, Feb 6: “British snatched weapons from us with Arms Act in 1857. Gandhiji took away arms from our minds in 1920. There are repeated assaults on us for whom religion is life, by way of love jihad and conversion. We should realize that India, Karnataka or Tallur can survive only if there is religion. Therefore, all of us should take up studies on religion and persuade others to take it up,” said Vidula Haladipur of Sanatan organization.

He was addressing Hindu religious awareness meeting at Tallur Srikunti Amma temple premises on Monday, February 5.

Diwaker Bhat from Bharath Swabhiman trust said, “Religion teaches us how to live. India is leading the world in cultural and religious celebrations. But there are unscientific changes in each of our celebrations. Bad customs creep into them. We should fight against them. There is no mention of religion in our creation. Only our colour is mentioned. Our country which is named as secular is involved in corruption amounting to several crores on the basis of government system. It is necessary that we urge to give up mentioning our religions in government applications.”

Mohan Gowda who spoke about the necessity of Hindu nation and free nation said that Pakistan was formed in 1947 for 24% minorities. “But majority Hindus with a percentage of 76% did not get Hindu nation. Several of our temples are in the custody of the government and programmes in them are led by people from other religions. People belonging to other religions are also in Mujrai department. Out of every rupee donated by devotees in our temples, only 25 paise is used for our temples and the government uses the remaining 75 paise for other purposes. The government is bringing about anti superstition law even though no complaints regarding God and religion are registered at police stations in the state. How can the government decide every religious custom of Hindus? Why does it not apply to other religions?” he asked.

The programme started with Shankhanaada and slogans from Vedas. Vijay Kumar explained about Hindu Janajagrathi Samithi and its functions in the beginning of the programme.
