Bantwal: IGP orders police to open fire on those who attack cops

Daijiworld Media Network - Bantwal

Bantwal, Jul 9: Amid the incidents of violence occuring in the district from past one-and-a-half-months, IGP (western range) Harishekharan has ordered the police to open fire on anyone who tries to attack or assault the cops.

According to reports, the IGP has ordered the police to shoot anyone who tries to escape inspection near checkposts.

In order to maintain law and order, the IGP has asked the police to use their weapons within the ambit of law, reports said.

Apart from opening fire on attackers, the IGP also gave some more instructions to the police during the meet.

Altogether, 7 sectors have been demarcated from Farangipete to Kalladka and Vittal, and 26 checkposts have been installed along the route.

Every vehicle that evokes suspicion will be inspected, the police said.

The police have arrested 20 persons in connection to the stone-pelting that occured at BC Road on Saturday.

Regarding Sharath's murder, the police are collecting evidence in order to trace the culprits, the IGP said.

Also, the superintendent of police (SP) has been directed to seek assistance from the city crime branch in nabbing Sharath's murderers, IGP Harishekaran said, adding that the district and the city police need to work together in solving the brutal crime.

Sharath, an RSS worker who ran laundry service at BC Road, was brutally attacked by a group on the night of July 4. Three days later, he passed away in private hospital in Mangaluru. On Saturday, his body was taken in a huge procession from Mangaluru to his hometown Kandur for the final rites, during which trouble erupted after stones were pelted and police had to resort to lathi charge. Several vehicles were damaged, one person was injured in the caning and another person was stabbed. Section 144 continues to be clamped in the district.

It is unfortunate the I.G.P. had have recourse to the extreme step. However Law and Order need to be maintained at all costs and the lives of people especially the innocent people should by all means be protected.

Mr. Harishekaram has to his credit years of experience and he has taken this extreme step in an attempt to protect lives of people.

The leaders who are real instigators for violence hide behind their followers. If anything happens to anyone of the followers, that gives more importance, more prominence and media attention to them.

It is for the followers therefore to think. Be it be any community, any group, any political party, get the leaders right in front of the procession and do whatever you want. I am certain, all protests will automatically and immediately will become non-violent and trouble free.

Try working for 24 hours a day, seven days a week, being blamed for someone else's stupidity and you can't reach home to your wife and kids because you gotta run after all these madness. hey, you aren't from another planet cse you a cop. You gotta put your life at risk because of a bunch of fools who have no value for life. It's a 'wicket' no?!

And then when you are done with your life, maybe going to the border would make sense.

Hon. IGP can also take measures on the lines of Mohalla Comitees formed by the then famous PC of Mumbai, Julio Rebeiro & Satish Sawney in the aftermath of one of the deadliest communal riots that jolted Mumbai in 1992-93!! These committees were highly effective n able to defuse a number of deadly followup riots!!

Finally police on action. Due to this delay, two persons were lost their life along with their family peace. No need to ban any kind of Organization. If law & order is strict, all organizations will run under the umbrella of Law. As so far, we no need to die to save/protect our religion, because its an pure give & take policy. If you respect basic aspects of other religion, automatically religious harmony will create on our society. Issue is, our youths were attract towards communal organization due to fake promises from leaders. But behind the screen, leader were shaking their hand & innocent youths were end their life by the name of religion. Please all the Parents/Sisters/Wives , try to avoid/stop their son/brothers/husband to join communal organizations. After loosing their breadwinner, none of organization will give hand to revert back on society. Even media to avoid showing past communal / politicians video repeatedly, it will also indirectly influence the society to vomit communal venom.

If someone assaults cops they can fire their weapon...... but what about the common man? Even common man should be able allowed to own a gun to protect himself and his family. I know we can apply for a gun license now but the rules are far too rigid.

I want gun laws to be laxed same like USA. If one owns a gun no one will mess with you.

First time I feel that the Police dept. has guts. IGP has given the right order. Do not see who and to which party the trouble makers/law breakers belongs to. Shoot at both legs and fracture them. Please act tough police dept. Then only the peace will prevail in Karnataka. Any politician who interferes in your work, please record their conversation and make it viral so that people will know who is playing with life of youngsters. Long live IGP sir.

He is a man with iron guts in him who is trying to establish peace in DK by asking for arrest of venom spewing poisonous snakes who after sewing poison hide in the hole sacrificing innocent youths for their evils purpose. Jai ho Ramanath sir. We need more lions like him to tame the snakes.
