Bantwal, Jul 4: Even as Sec 144 continues to be in place in Bantwal and other parts of the district, an RSS worker was attacked by a group and stabbed at BC Road here on the night of Tuesday July 4.
Sharath, a resident of Kandur in Sajipamunnur, was attacked by the group and is currently admitted to hospital.
Sharath runs a laundry service by name 'Udaya' in BC Road. On Tuesday night, after work, he was about to leave for home when a group of unidentified miscreants suddenly attacked him, stabbed and fled from the spot.
Sharath who is admitted to a hospital in a Mangaluru is said to be serious.
The fact the attack took place despite prohibitory orders being clamped in the district has further fuelled fear among the locals.
District superintendent of police (SP) Sudheer Kumar Reddy rushed to the spot. The police have deployed tight security and investigations are on.
