Mangaluru, Oct 13: Music enthusiasts across coastal Karnataka are in for an extraordinary cultural treat as Sumadhur Sangeeth Academy presents its flagship musical concert, Sumadhur 3. Spearheaded by celebrated vocalist, composer, and vocal trainer Joshal Sweeda D’Souza, the grand musical evening will take place at the Father Muller Convention Centre, Kankanady, Mangaluru.
The evening commences promptly at 5 pm with a formal convocation ceremony honouring Sumadhur Sangeeth Academy students who have excelled in pre-grade, grade 1, and grade 2 examinations, alongside the academy’s top achievers. Following the ceremony, the mega musical showcase will unfold, featuring an ensemble of acclaimed vocalists, seasoned instrumentalists, dynamic dance routines, and several surprise acts. Prominent cultural personalities, Konkani entertainment icons, and community philanthropists will grace the occasion.

Joshal D’Souza: A visionary journey in music and heritage

Joshal Sweeda D’Souza, the driving force behind the Sumadhur franchise, is an accomplished singer, composer, actor, and classical vocal coach hailing from coastal Karnataka. A professionally trained Carnatic classical vocalist and keyboardist—mentored at Sandesha Music Institute in Mangaluru and Golden Music Institute in Abu Dhabi—Joshal has built an expansive repertoire spanning Konkani, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam, and Tulu. After establishing a successful professional base in the United Arab Emirates, she returned to India to dedicate herself entirely to the performing arts, music education, and regional cultural preservation.
Musical direction by Sanjay Rodrigues and live ensemble

The musical arrangements and live orchestra are directed by keyboard maestro Sanjay Rodrigues, widely celebrated across the Konkani music fraternity for his signature "magical fingers." A core member of the acclaimed coastal band Route 96, Rodrigues has served as music director for hit films such as 'Bapache Putache Navim', alongside numerous international concert tours. Accompanying Sanjay on stage is a powerhouse ensemble of known instrumentalists: Roshen Crasta Bela, Melwyn Leema, Sanjeeth Rodrigues, Prajwal Fronterio, Stalin D'Souza, Veekshith Kodacha, and Ketan Castelino.
Star-studded headliners and rising talents

Leading the stellar vocal lineup is global Konkani sensation Prajoth D’Sa, who brings a catalogue of over 1,000 studio recordings as a singer, composer, music director, and producer. Renowned for scoring award-winning Konkani and Kannada feature films, his international credentials include collaborations on Grammy-winning and Grammy-nominated projects with Ricky Kej and Stewart Copeland (The Police), alongside ongoing productions with Grammy-winner Vanil Veigas.
Sharing the headline stage is contemporary performer and voice artiste Melrick D’Souza, known for blending modern rock sensibilities with playback music. A prominent commercial voice talent for national brands like Yamaha, Mahindra, and B-Natural, Melrick earned widespread critical acclaim and a SIIMA nomination for dubbing actor Pramod Shetty’s role in the blockbuster Kantara. His performance portfolio also includes a finalist run on '7 Up Starters', where he received high praise from the late power star Puneeth Rajkumar.
Fulfilling the academy's mission to champion the next generation, the stage will also spotlight standout young vocalists scouted from premier regional television talent hunts, including Daijiworld Star Singer and Konkani Melody Star.
Dance choreography and celebrity hosts

Adding visual splendour to the musical narrative, premier dance troupe Urban Groove—led by Mandd Sobhann Kalakar Puraskar winner Avil D’Cruz alongside Sonal D’Cruz—will electrify the stage with bespoke choreography tailored to the concert’s setlist.
Guiding the audience through the evening are two of Konkani media’s finest comperes: renowned television presenter Komal Jenifer D’Souza, host of Daijiworld TV’s Jigibigi Taram, Duet Singing Stars, and Trio Stars; and Nelson Monis, an academician and orator known for his quick-witted stage presence and articulate poetic commentary.
Partnering with Catholic Action League (CAL), Bendur for community welfare
