BJP plans state-wide stir against Santosh Lad; governor says CM should decide

From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Sep 30: Even as the State BJP announced its decision to launch a State-wide agitation against Karnataka’s Information and Infrastructure Development Minister Santosh Lad from the Siddaramaiah cabinet, Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj asserted on Monday that the decision to drop or not was left to the discretion of the Chief Minister.

The BJP legislators and MPs staged a dharna in front of Vidhana Soudha on Monday against Lad over the allegations that his company was involved in illegal mining.

The protesting saffron leaders warned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah that he himself may have to quit later following public pressure if he failed to honour the public demand for sacking Lad from the cabinet.

The Governor, who spoke to reporters after a workshop on healthcare for senior citizens here, said he had received representations seeking directions to the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to drop Lad from the cabinet and the same have been forwarded to the Chief Minister for suitable decision.

The BJP leaders, who staged the dharna in front of Vidhana Soudha, urged Siddaramaiah to walk the talk of acting tough against illegal mining.

They took serious exception to Siddaramaiah defending Lad and maintaining that there was no evidence to prove his involvement in illegal mining.

“He is speaking like an ordinary person, who does not have access to documents,” said former BJP chief minister Jagadish Shettar, who added: ``Let him verify the state government’s own notification, which cancelled the license issued to Lad’s firm for indulging in illegal mining.”

Former deputy chief minister K S Eshwarappa said: “We have already given the documents in support of the allegations against Lad to the Governor. If Siddaramaiah still claims that there is no proof, then either the governor has not passed on the documents to him or the relationship between the two has soured.”

In any case, there was no question any let-down in the campaign against Santosh Lad, Eshwarappa said.

He declared that the party was ready to give the documents in support of the charges of illegal mining against Lad to the chief minister at whatever place and time he wanted to receive.

Former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda alleged that Siddaramaiah was using the excuse of lack of evidence as an alibi to protect Lad.

This has exposed his claims of not including tainted personalities in the ministry and the Congress’ padayatra to Bellary against illegal mining, he said.

    @Harrys, Bangalore.

Yeddy went to such an extent to that there are no illegal mining scandals in whole of Karnataka, in spite of Justice Santosh Hegde (then Lokayukta) declaring a war on Yeddy, Reddy, Chaddi and others who stole billions from our beloved state!!!

Am not here to defent Lad or anyone, but justice shall prevail.

Shettar, Yeddy, Reddy, DVS and others must be thoroughly investigated too, and urgently, and ruthlessly.

Unless the govt. acts firmly on Justice Hegde's painstakingly submitted reports, we will never be able to eradicate corruption in our state.

I also request Siddhu to be honest and upright in taking stern action on any individuals irrespective of their credentials, and prove himself as a clean and upright leader, so that the congress party can fearlessly face the coming LS elections, inspite of what is happening in the Centre right now!

If Eeshu, Ashoka, Shetter, DVS were seriously interested in punishing Santhosh Lad, they would have implemented Lokayutktha report instead of dumping it as trash. BJP would have put Lad behind Bar. Instead they never recruited a honest Lokayuktha and kept that post vacant to escape from raids. Why faking now in the name of protest?

The Lokayukta report was handed to the then BJP Government in Karnataka which they stored it in the remotest part of their storage area as they were getting jitters\fearful dreams just at the sight of it.

They were afraid to open and check it properly to see if S.Lad's name was appearing anywhere!!! Guilty conscience...
They had all the time to check it\take action against the people involved in mining crimes and also taken action against S. Lad by themselves. Why BJP did not do it?

Instead they did away with Lokayukta!!!!

Why they are blaming others for their lapse and threatening to disrupt public life. Their whole and soul is only to disrupt life, from Parliament to Kanyakumari. Now they have become experts in creating bandhs and making peoples life miserable every where besides communal matters. They have become "sort of" road people (always on the road - bandhs\strikes\multiple yatras...)
This BJP party is not pro-people and they are the first party people to negate any development benefitting the public.
Their only aim is filling their own coffers (pockets are too shallow) and grabbing land.

    Dear Vincy, Bangkok,
Criminal activity and politics are inseparable faces of the same coin. Unless the supreme court's order is implimented, it will continue to be so. Therefore benchmarking one party with the other on this yardstick is useless excercise.
CBI is now the official invesitgating agency wearing the congress spectacles. Meddling by UPA is there for all to see day in and day out especially in states with non-congress governments. The latest being the case with Jayalalitha. When that being the order of the day, what is the guarantee that UPA will not try to meddle with the Gujarat Government with the help of Lokayukta. Anybody in his right mind would have insisted that their government should appoint Lokayukta. Last but not least, let's stop towing the english media line and ask, what has Lokayukta done till date other than give hot news items to media? Lokayukta has power to investigate only. Prosecution rests with the government of the day. Please ask Justice Santhosh Hegde..he can tell you more about his misgivings. I am not sure Siddu will take up Justice Hegde's report because, that report served the purpose he wanted and that's it. It only came in handy to push already broken house of BJP over the edge.
UPA is a perfect example of how one can flounder a fantastic opportunity. Modi on the other hand is a best bet merely because he could serve as an alternative. Another term to UPA would only mean more of the same viz., a italian lady remote controlling a helpless old man whose already low decibel is getting lower and lower every passing day while India slips into abyss.

Santhosh Lad must be immediately sacked from Cabinet of Sidduji to prove that his government doesnt have any tainted Ministers like earstwhile BJP cabinet where starting from CM (Yeddi-DVS-Shettar) to every minister, PAs were corrupt to the core. One tainted minister in Siddu cabinet is enough to give fodder to corrupt BJP leaders to play dirty politics. Why cant Siddu remove Lad n stop BJP taking political advantage? People have high expectations from Siddu unlike Yeddi/DVS/Shetter/Eshu/Ashoka.
BJP ruined Karnataka since it came to power and looted every available natural resource n emptied public exchequer. They didnt even spare dust for making money. When Karnataka was sinking to hell, Siddaramaiah emerged as CM to arrest downfall created by BJP. Siddu had to toil day in and day out to repair financial situation of Karnataka. It will take a long time. Dented and painted image of Karnataka by BJP in last 5 years of bad governance must be revived by Sidduji. BJP opened fire on farmers n attacked worship places of minorities and molested women and enjoyed pornography, indulged in sex scandals, wild parties at beach, enjoyed resort stays, dumped crores of tax-payers money in safe-tax-havens like Mutts n temples, promoted sex-tourism... the list of misdeeds n mis-governance is endless. Recently, infamous Udupi former MLA was involved in RasaLeela activity with some woman in his Innova car near Manipal End point after 10pm. Police checked Innova, and went away without bothering to arrest former MLA. Siddu is the only hope to revive miserable state of Karnataka.

Sadananda Gowda became CM of Karnataka, what is his contribution for the development of Dakshina Kannada n Udupi ? He was MP and MLA, still couldnt work for his constituency. A big naught.

BJP is going mad n desperate to attack Siddu. Any fault will be blown out and project as big, and make it political.

Dear Sachidanand Shetty,Santhosh,Gurudath,Shetty Mangalore Bhandarkar, and many more who think that Modi is super power, the HeMan,BatMan ,Spiderman type who can save India within few weeks from the clutches of curruption,POK trouble, and many other issues that cannot be solved even after hundred years. with due respect to your comments, please a respect a recent elected government with clean majority because the voters felt that BJP is enough.
Before you accuse UPA or Karnataka CM or the recently elevated minister Lad please go see what is happening with the so called most developed state Gujarat.
As per the daily news papers, The Hindu,DNA,India Today, Outlook India, and other major news papers all over India reported that,
A total 57 of the 182 MLAs (31 per cent) in present Gujarat Government are facing criminal charges. The ordinance passed by the UPA-2 will first affect the Gujarat Government and then we can check on Karnataka state.
As per Election Commission report 10 BJP legislators facing serious criminal charges, like murder and rape in Gujarat Government. This does not include female MLA Maya Kodnani who is sentenced to life imprisonment for Naroda Patiya Massacre.

When Modi opposed Lok Ayukta in Gujarat, you should know there itself what his true colour is!
We all know what good Lok Ayukta has done for Karnataka.

When the pressure mounted,he agreed for Lok Ayukta only if it is appointed by his government.Ha Ha..what a joke!
And this guy is PM candidate!

Pakistan has nuclear weapons, which is why India will never go to war with them.Modi will do nothing if he comes to power, other than isolate and cut off trade links with Pakistan.

What more better example you need to say that BJP has double standards all over the country in every statements they made when it comes to sitting into opposition they cannot swallow the hot Karnataka Idli Dosa.
At present there are 35 sitting MLAs of BJP in Gujarath are facing criminal charges. The present Water Resources Minister Babubhai Bokhariya in Gujarat government in on conviction by a sessions court for a case of illegal mining.
If Bokkharia can run the ministry then why not Lad cannot cook his Dosa in Bangalore?
The BJP is going to be in big trouble in the future and leaders may exit to take Sannyas.
