Ajman: Intensive workshop on clinical EKG held at GMU

Ajman, Jul 10: A two day  intensive workshop on clinical EKG was conducted by the Department of Cardiology, GMC Hospital and Gulf Medical University on the July 5 and July 6 at GMU Campus in Ajman.

“The aim of the workshop was to extend and update the Clinical EKG interpretation knowledge of health professionals who have a basic understanding of EKG. It is an ideal opportunity to acquire a systematic approach to elucidate challenging 12 lead EKG, as in complex Arrhythmias, Myocardial Ischemias and Infarctions”, said Dr Ehab Esheiba, clinical assistant professor and head department of cardiology, gmc hospital Ajman.

Dr Ehab, who designed the workshop, regularly conducts the workshops on Comprehensive Workshop on Fundamentals of EKG and Intensive Workshop on Clinical EKG for Doctors, Interns and Residents, Nurses, Paramedical staff and technicians and other related healthcare providers and students.

‘The main focus of this workshop was on assisting the participant to achieve advanced levels of electrocardiogram interpretation through brief interactive lectures and discussions.  Measures to avoid common misconceptions were highlighted through the appropriate use of Pearls and Pitfalls, and Tips and Tricks’ added Dr Ehab.

The workshop covered EKG in Coronary artery Disease (CAD), EKG in arrhythmias, pericardial, myocardial & pulmonary diseases/ pre-excitation patterns, drug effects, electrolyte imbalance, metabolic disorders, pace makers and specific considerations, limitations and pitfalls.

The workshop which was accredited by the Ministry of Health for 9.5 CME hours was attended by over 50 doctors and specialists from all over UAE.
