Byndoor: DC visits Kalthodu, assures construction of bridge across rivulet

Daijiworld Media Network – Byndoor (MS)

Byndoor, Aug 9: Deputy commissioner (DC) Kurma Rao visited the spot of Kalthodu village, where school student Sannidhi (7) fell into the river and got washed away on August 8.

Kalthodu villagers conveyed their difficulties to the DC and said that children are finding it very difficult to cross the rivulet and streams of water. They said that no improvement is done in this villager since many years.

The DC assured to look into the issues soon and instructed the disaster management force to ensure safety.

Byndoor MLA Sukumar Shetty said, “Instructions are given to build minor bridge at the spot where the girl got washed away. Already there are five foot bridges across this rivulet. Now Rs 10 lac is sanctioned to build a foot bridge at Vantemane and I have instructed to start the work immediately.”

Roads of Kappady, Kampa, Manmane, Madhukodu, Mooruru, Gundvana, Chapparike, Beejamakki and Aragundi in Kalthodu village were completely damaged in January 2022. Vehicles cannot move on these roads at all. Students and agriculturists find it very difficult to go to schools and their farm land respectively. Hence, the villagers had requested 15 foot bridges across the rivulet with Byndoor MLA.

Tahsildar Kiran Gowraiah and police personnel were present.

We live in a pathetic political atmosphere... Right from Gram Panchayat level corruption, head strong attitude and lethargy are trademark of most representatives... It is the duty of local leaders to identify perils to communities who voted them to power... Leaving a dilapidated wooden bridge without hand rails for small babies to walk, allowing them to die and still continue to stick to their seats... This is shameful and unacceptable...
