Byndoor, Aug 8: A second standard girl student fell off a foot overbridge and met her watery grave in Kalthodu village on her back home from school on Monday evening.

Frantic search is on to find the seven-year-old girl Sannidhi, who is a resident of Bolamballi Makkimane and is the daughter of Pradeep Poojary and Sumithra.

Sannidhi was studying in the government school at Chapparike and while she was returning home from school she fell from a foot overbridge in Beejamakki into a ditch. On knowing that the girl had slipped, the public gathered and began frantically searching for her.

The girl is suspected to have been swept away by the strong water current of the Bollamballi river although search operations are under way.

Byndoor MLA B M Sukumar Shetty visited the spot along with former chairman of Zilla Panchayat Raju Poojary, tahsildar Kiran Goraiah, Byndoor PSI Pavan Nayak and former chairman of Grama Panchayat Appanna Shetty among others.

I can see clear negligence on the part of parents here. How can they allow such a small kid to cross such a dangerous bridge? I pray God keep the girl safe
