Mapusa, Oct 18: Anjuna police seized LSD papers weighing 1.22 grams and valued at Rs 9.7 lakh during a raid at Munangwada-Assagao on Friday evening and arrested a 35-year-old man from Thane, Maharashtra, in connection with the alleged drug possession case.

According to a report published by The Goan on Sunday, the raid was conducted at around 5.35 pm after police received specific and credible information about a suspected drug deal near the football ground at Munangwada.

During the operation, police apprehended the suspect, identified as Abhishek Singh. The LSD papers were allegedly found concealed in a bag in his possession. The seized substance was valued at Rs 9.7 lakh, according to the report.

Singh was arrested following the seizure and produced before a court in Mapusa on Saturday. The court remanded him to four days of police custody to facilitate further investigation.

Anjuna PSI Nitesh Shingadi is investigating the case under the guidance of Police Inspector Krishna Sinari.

The latest seizure comes amid continuing drug enforcement operations in North Goa. In a separate case in December 2025, Anjuna police arrested a 26-year-old man and seized 316 LSD blots valued at Rs 7.9 lakh near the Siolim football ground. Police in that case registered an offence under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and said further investigation was underway to trace the source of the drugs and possible links to a wider supply network.

In the present case, further investigation is being conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged drug deal and determine whether the accused had any links to other people involved in the supply of narcotic substances. No additional details about the source of the LSD or any wider network were available in the reports reviewed.
