Bengaluru, Jul 5: Revenue minister R Ashok said that a team of seismic experts from Hyderabad will visit selected areas of Kodagu and Dakshina Kannada where tremors are being felt repeatedly in the past few weeks.

Speaking to reporters, Ashok said, “Tremors are being felt in some areas of Kodagu and Dakshina Kannada border. That is why the team of experts has been called from Hyderabad. I will also visit the areas where tremors are felt in Kodagu. In addition, instructions are given to monitor the Richter scale 24x7.

It is said that where there are huge deposits of lime stones below the earth, pressure will be created when the rain water flows and it results in vibration. There is no need to panic."

“Experts had earlier given a report that considerable increase in commercial activities in Kodagu is also one of the reasons for creating pressure inside the earth. So restrictions will be placed on converting land for commercial purposes.”
