June 28: DK reports 21 Covid cases, Udupi adds 17 infections

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 28: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday June 28, reported 21 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 17 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,35,779 out of which 40 are currently active.

The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,852.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,05,880 as fine in 96,212 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As many as 17 coronavirus cases were reported on June 28. The total active Covid cases are 26.

A total of 10,87,984 people have received first dose of vaccination and 10,76,431 have received both doses and 95,472 people have received booster dose.

Udupi taluk reported 13 cases while 3 cases were reported in Karkala. No cases were reported from Kundapur. 

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
