Bengaluru: Shock for consumers – Electricity tariff to rise further from Jul 1

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Jun 28: The public, which is already reeling under increasing prices of fuel, cooking gas and groceries, have to bear the brunt of hike in electricity tariff from July 1.

The tariff is going to rise from Rs 19 to Rs 31 from July 1. Consumers who use 100 units and above will have to pay additional Rs 19 to Rs 31. This depends on respective companies.

As the coal price has increased considerably in the past two years various Escoms (Bescom, Mescom, Hescom, Gescom and Sesc) had proposed to Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) to allow them to recover the additional expenses from the consumers by hiking the prices. They had requested to collect additional prices of Rs 38 to Rs 55 per unit.

Though KERC has approved the appeal of Escoms, it has not allowed them to hike the price by as much as they demanded. It reduced the prices by saying that the new prices will be extra burden to people who have still not recovered from the ill effects of Covid.

On their part, the Escoms are saying that this price increase is just temporary to cover the production cost which has gone up in thermal power plants in addition to shortage and increase in price of coal. Once these return to normal, the prices will be reduced.

While some states are offering free electricity ,,here we are seeing tarrif increase .. What is the reason? Is the raw material cost increased or the transport cost increased ? We see regular power cuts with faulty transformers and poor over head cables .. The night street lights are dim as an old lantern..

Karnataka electricity board and Karnataka power corporation staff are getting double the salary and pension compared to regular government staff. First reduce their salary on par with government staff. Then they need not hike power tariff

All these developments in price increases are part of the promised packages under Sabke saath sabka Vikas...... double engine growth....target of USD 5 trillions is now set to USD 30 trillions economy by 2027......then ofcourse number one super Power of the world......achche din for all....... therefore not to worry. we are moving in the right direction. Reminds of someone's prediction 75 years before about these double engine 🚂🚂 growth days. "’Power will go to the hands of rascals, rogues, freebooters; all Indian leaders will be of low calibre & men of straw. They will have sweet tongues and silly hearts. They will fight amongst themselves for power and India will be lost in political squabbles. A day would come when even air and water would be taxed in India.” Chak de India....... Jai ho Lala...!!!!!

Collapse in management of Power generation -- power distribution -- Companies like Adani etc benefiting -- and due to wrong planning needless Coal imports - -- Due to needless bogey of Coal scam -- to bring down previous govt -- India which has huge coal reserves unable to utilise -- dependent on imports -- mismatch and unable to forecast demand -- also inefficient old power generating plants running -- VS -- efficient plants unable to run due to collection / payment issues-- Solar generation -- no clear policy -- all in all policy bungling -- many passenger / goods trains cancelled to transport coal -- such is the crisis- --= so more goods/ people moving on roads causing increase in diesel demand --
