Kundapur: Schools in Jadkal, Mudooru to be closed for 10 days due to rising cases of dengue

Kollur, May 19: Schools that fall under the jurisdiction of Jadkal and Mudooru will remain closed for 10 days from May 19 as a precautionary measure against rising cases of dengue.

Many cases of dengue have been reported in Kollur Primary Health Centres of Jadkal and Mudoor since the last two months. In the Kundapura taluk hospital, 30 beds have been reserved for dengue patients and ambulances have also been pressed into service.

According to Udupi district surveillance officer Dr Nagarathna, a total of 106 cases of dengue have been detected.

Byndoor BEO said after holding deliberations, Byndoor MLA B M Sukumar Shetty along with deputy commissioner M Kurma Rao have decided to close down schools for the next 10 days.

Sukumar Shetty has appealed to all residents to take precautions to prevent the spread of the disease. He has also requested all citizens maintain cleanliness and avoid water stagnation in surroundings.
