Hyderabad, Sep 22: One of the most anticipated upcoming films of Telugu cinema, Prabhas-starrer Fauzi, has been postponed from its scheduled December 3, 2026 release date. The makers are yet to announce a new release date.
The period drama, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi of Sita Ramam fame, was reportedly facing delays due to pending post-production work, with earlier reports suggesting that its release could be pushed to 2027.
Producer Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers confirmed the postponement while speaking at the pre-release event of Nani's upcoming film The Paradise on September 21. He apologised to fans for the delay and said the additional time would be used to deliver a large-scale project.
“Fauzi is being pushed back a little bit, but it's a next-level movie. You haven't seen brother Prabhas look so grand since Baahubali. It's a movie of that scale,” Ravi Shankar said. He added that audiences would “cherish it for a lifetime” and described the film as a “massive and great movie”.
Fauzi was earlier scheduled to release on December 3, a day before Naga Chaitanya's Vrushakarma and Dulquer Salmaan's Sri Sri, both of which were slated for December 4. With the Prabhas-starrer now postponed, a 2027 release is expected, although the makers have not officially announced a date.
The film is being produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under the Mythri Movie Makers banner, with Bhushan Kumar's T-Series Films presenting the project.
Alongside Prabhas, Fauzi features Imanvi Esmail, Sajjad Delafrooz, Mithun Chakraborty and Anupam Kher in key roles. The film has attracted attention for its period setting, ensemble cast and reported large-scale production.
For Prabhas, the film marks another major project following Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire and Kalki 2898 AD. His other upcoming projects include Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and featuring Triptii Dimri, which is currently scheduled for release in March 2027.
With Fauzi now delayed, Prabhas is expected to have at least two major releases in 2027, subject to the final release schedules announced by the respective makers.
