Muslim sculptors, mango traders face heat of Hindu activists in Karnataka

Bengaluru, Apr 7 (IANS): After campaigning against the hijab, halal and banning Muslim traders in temple fairs, Hindu organisations in Karnataka now are planning a campaign to ban Muslim mango traders and sculptors from making idols of Hindu Gods.

The Hindu organisations have also prepared to challenge the issue of halal certification in the country in the court. These organisations are prepared to wage a legal battle questioning the system of halal certification against the Food Safety and Standards Association of India (FSSAI), the governing and monitoring body of food business in India.

Sources said that the list of halal products was being prepared. The halal certification is illegal and the only authority to certify food is FSSI. The matter will be taken to the court about halal certification, sources said.

Though the ruling BJP tried to distance itself from banning mango traders, it is maintaining silence on other issues. Opposition Congress and JD(S) are slamming the ruling BJP for these developments and AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has stated that the Karnataka government was enforcing untouchability on Muslims.

Melukote Cheluvanaraya Swamy temple Sthanik Srinivasan on Thursday said that he will take up a campaign across the state to ban Hindu idols being sculpted by Muslim sculptors. "The idols of Hindu gods sculpted by Muslim artistes can't be installed in the Hindu temples, it is against the traditions. I will tour the state and bring awareness in this regard," he had stated.

Sri Ram Sena has also extended the support to ban installing of idols in temples that are sculpted by Muslims and given a call for temple authorities not to get any idols made by the Muslim sculptors.

Meanwhile, the campaign to ban Muslim traders in mango trade has gained momentum in the state. The Hindu activists are running an online campaign to take back the mango wholesale trade dominated by the Muslim businessmen. Chandru Moger, Hindu Janajagruthi Samiti coordinator appealled to Hindus to buy fruits from only Hindu vendors and boycott Muslim traders.

My God, what sort of place we are living in. Are these people for real?. They don’t like Muslims,Christians, dalits, they tell you whom you can talk with and what you should wear. Sounds worse than ISIS or Taliban. Yesterday a Vice President of a college inviting people to stone some girls from his college for wearing hijab. Is this what BJP stands for? Do we want these type of people to govern us?. Think.

Mango traders need not worry. If muslim trader's mango is not sold initially it will be bought later, once non-muslim trader's mango is sold. Non-muslim trader themselves will appeoach muslim traders if there is demand for mango.

What about idols sculpted by dalits? Why has the Govt. given such a free hand to communal organizations? On the one hand you talk about UCC to bring about oneness and national integrity and on the other organizations patronized by you promote divisions in society. Do you want those vendors and sculptors to resort to criminal activities? Boycotting and preventing traders from doing their routine trade is in itself a violation of human rights, a dangerous development in national interest.

Who is dividing society on the basis of religion. 2 to 3 years back, one religion group had tried to influence their community to buy fish, from the same community vendors. The plan got failed. Now the same group is bringing religion even to fruits sale. Jealousy, hatred is very much visible. Failures always adopt divisive approach and divisive forces will bite the dust.

@ Gangaram, Moodabidri, Pity your upbringing. Don't mock people on their profession. The society needs all kinds of people. A cobbler, a barber, a banker, a trader, a fish seller, a garbageman. All kinds. One day let the garbageman not come to your door to pick your garbage and you turn the world upside down. It is those people due to which you exist in the society. If the guy is picking 'gujiri' it is not because he is happy to do so, but he has no choice. He does it because he can feed his children so that they can study and be better than him, so that he can put food in the plate for his family. Put yourself in his shoes and you will know. Grow up!

If it was saved, i would have put up here.....Whats happening here is really a sad state of affair. Atleast, these politicians would have thought so many of our hindu people working in gulf/europe countries. Are they treated this way? Certainly no....Then, why these some politicians jump like this ? Its really not good 😐
