Mangaluru: Anti Conversion Bill - MLA urges Christians to support government

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Mar 4: "The protests organized by the Christians against the Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Bill will strengthen the hands of organizations involved with religious conversions. Religious conversion is an evil. Because of this, many families have become listless as they have been denied any government facilities. The state government framed this act in order to browbeat the organizations involved with religious conversions by extending lure. The Christian community, without realizing this, played into their hands and organized protest, which will support organizations which extend the lure to instigate religious conversions. Because of these organizations, the Christian community will also suffer," said MLA Dr Y Bharath Shetty.

Shetty further said that the government had taken up the initiative to regulate such organizations through certain amendments to the existing law. He urged the Christian community not to hold protests but to join hands with the government.

He said that the government will make use of the provisions of this act without getting bogged down by lures or protests.

Although if we think the bill is passed, what is wrong here? Why are minorities afraid of? They should be afraid only if they try to lure someone and convert an family/individual belonging to some other religion to their religion!!

I think he does not know what is democracy and there is everyone have rights to protest if it's against the benefits of people. Today he is urging minority to support government in this policy. Next time they will bring some policies for his own comunity and he will say to support government. Then do he think they will keep quite without protesting. Do he wants to bring king rule in India?. God is patiently watching these type of people . But one day God will make him understand and will follow Jesus.

Feel sad for elected representative talks anything comes to their mind and mouth. This man first need to see the contributions done by Christians and manage his mouth accordingly. When people are hungry homeless sick etc doesn't matter what god they believe but as long as whoever helps them is matters them. Many of your ancestors also educated in chrisrian schools because of that many are well educated and able to read and write.. hate has no place on this earth. Whoever preach hate directly or indirectly will be punished by almighty during their life time. I dont believe chriztians need any help from you and need any lectures. Our priests are well educated and will take this matter peacefully loving and kinder ways. God bless your way of thinking. Dont need your help but help yourself.

MLA Shetty should go back and research again what ever he is talking. He says by conversion people will deprived of government facilities. Its nothing but a threat, being a law maker he should not be making such statements. If someone want to convert to any particular religion then neither DC or president of India can stop it. Its a legitimate right of a human being to practice a faith of his or her choice. he says the protest will 'support organizations which extend the lure to instigate religious conversions'. Is he out of his mind. If someone or a organization is preaching about a religion ,including 'Satsang' at various places all over the country what is wrong in it.

WE DON'T HAVE ORGANISATIONS IN CHRISTIANITY. WE HAVE DENOMINATIONS AND ALL DENOMINATIONS FOLLOW THE HOLY BIBLE. DEAR BHARAT SHETTY, EDUCATE YOURSELF BEFORE SPEAKING IN THE PUBLIC. Secondly, Accepting another's faith is a humans birth, and Constitutional right.

80% of the rape accused also don't do anything wrong. But they are thrown behind bars for years as UNDERTRIALS. Their life gets destroyed. So, Christians have every right/reason to be nervous. Have you spent a few years a few years behind bars without doing anything wrong? Under Indian laws, that can happen.

Sir, It is true that there were no people of faith before their scriptures were written, As such there were no Hindus before the Vedas were written. Assuming all accepted Hinduism on their free will Why they cannot leave on their free will. In it lies the catch. You are too embarrassed to tell the Hindus not to become Christians and try to hide by making false accusations and violence against Christians. Do not worry about Christians. We know what we are doing. Some day if emptiness troubles you, I suggest you say the prayer from the Upanishad to the unseen God creator of all thing seen and unseen “lead me from untruth To truth, darkness to light and death to immortality” Then you will understand all about free will.

Once the Bill is passed, anyone can accuse another person of conversion attempt. Just like the rape accusation and dowry accusation. The SC has said, at least 80% of rape accusations are fake! But the man's like is destroyed, because the accused remains UNDERTRIAL FOR YEARS!. The one who accuses is not punished. Now the Christian Bishops of Karnataka can be accused by anyone, and the Bishops might be thrown into the jail as UNDERTRIAL. Just like mallu Franco. Many on this forum accused Franco as well. So, support such bills at your peril. It is a 5th world kind of bill.

Being an elected MLA he should represent all the people instead of his biased statements like he did when prayer hall was demolished despite court order. He said this place is different from the one which had stay order and it is government land without any survey. There is a saying man proposes and God disposes. Divide rule strategy doesn't work every time, on 10th March Yogi and BJP might get a big jolt in UP electoral results.

Mr. Shetty, do you expect Christians to support a government which has not uttered a single word when their places of worship were vandalised on the pretext of conversion? The government statistics show no forced conversions. Members of your party and its outfits openly talk against minorities and neither you nor your CM have the guts to condemn them. Before asking us to support the government, please explain to us how the law can be misused by vested interests to torture us. As far as I know, under this law, the accused has to prove his innocence. Which century are you living in? Is this a way the law is formed? Also, instead of making an ambiguous statement, could you please name a few of the organisations that are active in forcefully converting people? You may well remember that the lamentation of your party man Goolihatti that his mother was forcefully converted to Christianity has fallen flat. By the way, when a law pertaining to the issue is already in place, why do you want a new law?
