Dubai, Sep 21: From November 2021, motorists in Dubai can get additional number plates to be fitted at the back of their vehicles with trunk-mounted bicycles.
On Monday, the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) said, that motorists can avail this service from DH35. Motorists can get the number plate from a service provider, the service will also be made available on http://rta.ae.
This is done because previously, the bike stands behind the vehicles, would block the visibility of the rear number plate, Also blocked number plates are a traffic violation in the UAE. The additional number plate will prevent this problem.
This service was launched in response to the feedback and proposals from residents, said the RTA.
The goal is for Dubai to become one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the world by extending the emirate's total bike lanes to 739km.
