Mangaluru, Sep 15: District Congress president Harish Kumar said, “BJP showed their true colours with the demolition of religious places in the state.”

Addressing media here on Wednesday September 15, Harish Kumar said, “The BJP formed government with the votes of Hindus and have taken contract of Hindutva. Now they have shown their true colours with the demolition of temples. It is said that notice has been served to the Mysuru district administration over removal of unauthorized religious structure. Undoubtedly, there is government’s hand in this removal. No deputy commissioner and Tahsildar has courage to demolish religious temples without the hand of the government. This can be termed as politically sponsored move.

“The government has received criticism from Hindu groups and their own leaders. Hindu groups have called for protest. Is this a drama to protest against their own government? People are tired of the drama and will not encourage them further. Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai said not to hurry in demolition of temples. Does it mean that they should make some delay and demolish them?

“Bommai should have apologized for the move. We urge the government to identify places and reconstruct the temples which have been demolished,” he said.

Only those unauthorized structures constructed illegally or on public lands are being demolished. Appreciate there has been no violent protests from the affected community. While making press conference for publicity Harish Kumar should also appeal to the public and ensure that there is no violence if and when such structures of other communities are required to be demolished.

Hinduism over the years evolved in many ways. Deities chose the place through the communication means they have. Some one's dream or in a Dharshan and so on. Saying it legal or illegal is far beyond human comprehension. Temple history, age, practice and traditions need to reviewed prior to demolishion. Its really sad that BJP is rushing to demolish in the name of development. Hope that this is not appeasement politics as UP elections are coming.

All illegal structures should be demolished, there should not be any religious , political or financial bias. They should not have been allowed to come up in the first place. Govt/ Municipal officials, who allowed the construction should be made to pay the demolition/compensation charges from their personal account.

Was not 208 temples destroyed in Kashmir during the Congress rule. Now why you are shedding crocodile tears ??? But I am happy that congi is adopting soft hindutva card and lately ealised without hindu vote bank can't come back to power. I too condemn demolition of Temple and govt must build new temple at earliest.

Congress will fail if it tries to out-Hindutva the BJP. Congress should not be defending illegal construction on public land.
