Hoige of Ullal has members of Catholic community in large numbers. They also have King Star Seva Samiti. The members of Ullal municipality opine that this a great gesture by the people of other communities in Ullal, which is called as communally sensitive area by the police and administration.

The idol of Lord Ganesha was immersed every year at Ullal Uliya first bridge area. However, this year it was immersed in Netravati river as the backwater area is filled with sewage water. So all the Catholics who reside nearby took part in the immersion of the idol.

People always fail to notice that not every catholic is a missionary, not every muslim is a jihadist and not every hindu supports hardcore hindutva. There are always some people who are responsible for creating instability in the name of religion.

We have seen such harmony often from one sided only whether it be from Christian community or Muslim community but hardly extended by people from majority community during the celebrations of the festivals of minority communities just because of the threats from rightwing groups.
