Bengaluru: Workforce advises to reopen schools depending on area-wise situation

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jun 22: The Covid workforce chaired by Dr Devi Shetty formed with regard to the Covid third wave has advised the government to open the schools as the second wave of the pandemic is ding down. The workforce has made its recommendations based on the conditions prevailing in different regions.

The workforce, which examined the current situation of the state from different angles, submitted its interim report containing 17 points covering 91 pages in which preparations for the health system and other issues have been mentioned.

"The second wave of corona is on the wane. In a few days it may decline further. That might be the right time to reopen the schools. At the same time, close watch will have to be kept on every region. Wherever certain regions show signs of increase in the symptoms, such schools can be temporarily closed," the workforce stated in its report.

The team noted that vaccines for the children are at the trial stage, and once the same are ready, the government can produce the same in bulk and vaccinate the children on priority. Till then, all precautions have to be taken for running the schools. Currently, schools need not be opened in areas where the prevalence of the pandemic is high. They can be opened wherever the infection is low. A work plan can be drawn for the same and the same can be followed, the experts said. They also felt that there is a need to start the classes, even if it means running the schools on alternative days or by shifts of morning and evening batches.

"If a child remains away from learning for a year, it faces problems academically. It will also face challenges in the future. If it stays away from school for a prolonged period of say two to three years, a lot of problems will arise. Therefore, the team said, it should be ensured that the children do not lose their connection with the school," the team of experts said.

The 13-member team of doctors headed by Dr Devi Shetty has paediatricians, oncologists, experts in infectious diseases, etc who have been putting together developments in their sectors. They also have put together information about changes from one wave to the other, effect on the children etc. Preparation of staff and providing training in paediatric ICU, paediatric ventilators, etc. The report also contains some warnings.

Schools should be allowed to reopen and attendance optional. Those parents who still are in panic mode will teach children at home, those who love their children and do not fear the virus, will send children to school. The reason is simple , even if one parent goes out to buy essentials- he/she can infect the child, infection need not necessarily be brought home from school.

It is absurd to compare parents going out to purchase and students going to school. An adult parent will by all means try to follow covid protocol in the strictest manner possible. But it is next to impossible for a student to follow covid protocol in school where first the child is completely exposed during travel to school by crowded public transport. In school students are dumped together with 40 to 50 students with zero social distance. Sharing the same classroom for long hours with already infected asymptomatic students will guarantee a super spread in no time among students to teachers and visa versa. Wearing masks for long hours is terrible ordeal specially for little children. Students have to attend school with a sense of dread. Little children and even the bigger ones can never be expected to follow or take Covid protocols seriously due to their age. If places of worship etc due to overcrowding are epicentres to covid spread then why not apply the same view on school gatherings.

Rightly said, let all the scared people hide behind closed doors and let all others attend the classes. We can't change media educated minds easily as they learn the truths the hard way. Just because fake paid media has censored truth it doesn't mean fake stories become real. Just because clouds hide the Sun it doesn't mean Sun has ceased to exist. Now slowly govt is trying to enforce vaccines through businesses, schools and colleges while claiming it's voluntary. An emergency use permitted vaccines not approved by any FDA can't be forced by anyone which is against Nuremberg Code and punishable criminal act in International Court of Justice, for this reason the govt is deceitfully implementing this hidden agenda which will implicate others but not them thanks to Bill Gates who had planned it in advance.

@ Agnes. I like your frank expression. Yeah the first few letters are same in my name and doctor's name, there ends the similarity. If you had read my past comments to Dr Edward's article on Covid and another doctor from Fr Mullers you will come to know I'm against medical mafia just like Dr Raju & Dr Bishwaroop. I'm against forced vaccinations as I know their harms than their benefits. I'm against the pandemic hoax which I call scamdemic. This disease never qualifies as pandemic with 99.997% recovery rate with or without any medicines. I'm supporter of natural immunity that has saved our ancestors from thousands of years without any medicines or vaccines. We can't runaway or hide from any viruses like corona and I again state there won't be any safe & effective vaccines against mutating viruses like corona. I will send my son just like last year to college without fear as I know about the reality. I'm even against use of masks and sanitiizers which no doctor other than a few I have named dare utter in public, Dr Tarun Kothari is another doc who has written letter to IMA with 10 questions exposing the mandates of present mandates.

As per my openion, schools can be opened if transportation facility for teachers and students is available. Because, during lockdown, many children are seen playing together without covid appropriate behaviour. Once all lockdown restrictions are removed, the parents take them to parks, beatches or anywhere else. Then why schools should remain closed!?

@Agnes I would agree with you that many private hospitals are fleecing the patients I feel that there should be "IDH"Infectious Diseases Hospitals" at district headquarters , many states already have them, we should have one in Mangalore too. This has to be managed by the State Govt. and the treatment has to be free.

Be it Dr Devi Shetty or Antony Fauci. Their task is to find out how best we can live with the virus around us. As per my knowledge and belief Covid Work Force Committee is apolitical. If they give us some suggestions it's not without valid reason and proper justification. They say schools can be reopened with restrictions. It's based on the vast data they collected across the globe. When rest of the world is doing it why can't we? For the sake of our children's educational needs we must take calculated risk with utmost care for their health. Don't we need to prepare our children ready to face the challenges ahead. Aren't we responsible to make the next generation global competitive in every sphere of their lives. Let us not jump before the gun. Better we fact check the data provided by the committee. It's a fact that when the schools were reopened after the first wave cases didn't surge. It's our irresponsible behaviour and recklessness that led to second wave. If the second wave has devastated our life we are the culprits. We are duty bound to impart complete education for our children. By sitting at home and attending internet dependant online classes our children will never be able to achieve their goal.

@Agnes. Our medical infrastructure is fairly good, though it needs further improvement. It is the theory, practical training and experience that counts in treating patients not posh buildings. If you go to US or Europe , watch 100 doctors doing surgery, compare with our surgeons- see the results yourself rather than speculate.I have been abroad a number of times, so I am confident of my comments. As an example a Stapedectomy operation takes 1-2 hours abroad , I do not want to name the surgeons, but they were world famous, in Chennai I have seen late Dr, Shivasunder do it in 6 minutes flat. "Thousands" of doctors have not died in India, the figure from Indian Medical Association mentions around 624, this figure is the number of deaths "WITH" covid, not " DUE TO" Covid. There is no need to panic and create panic.

Yeah Monty Doc, I too was sceptical about Dr Devi but this decision of his I fully support as it is scientific and based on sound data. Now people are mislead by vaccine industries and paid media so they still haven't come out of that brain manipulated state yet. Now coming to deaths among doctors community- they too are humans and didn't knew what they were dealing with and due to closure of all other hospitals except covid care their workload was such they hardly rested for 4 hours in a long day, with masks and PPE kits reducing their immunity causing them falling victims to the viral infection. This year they've got jabs which failed to protect them or rather caused their deaths but to save the vaccine industries the narrative got different story. As you said no viral infections caused deaths but mismanagement and experimental administration of medicines caused most of the deaths. The offer of 2& half million Euros still hasn't been pocketed by any scientists or doctors by proving corona virus caused the deaths as out of 1,20,000 viruses only corona virus test is carried out but no other viral infection tests were done thereby they only can say people died with covid and not due to covid. The test kit inventor himself has ruled out the test kit is suitable for testing fòr corona as it was meant only for experimental use inside sterilized labs where single virus is isolated for experiments. Contaminated outside tests never give correct results. All the claims of new variants is a big lie to continue the lockdown according to scientists as no human corona virus has ever been found or seen just like Dr Fauci created HIV virus scam. HIV never causes AIDS but a fudged research report created this story. Time to prosecute Bill Gates and all his puppets for creating the present scamdemic with Fake PCR test and false narrative of asymptomatic spreading the infections.

@Dotor Monty my statement below says thousands of doctors are dying in India and all over the world. The facts and figures available on deaths of doctors or public in India are much much higher then given out by our rotten political and health infrastructure. The reality is much graver then what is being projected. Nobody counts the dead bodies floating in rivers. Yes a few doctors may be super good in India but the vast majority of the middle class and poor citizens of India cannot afford expensive treatment. The colossal bills that poor patients had to bear during the pandamic shows how hospitals are reaping the rewards. Parents cannot afford to pay the exorbitant school fees plus the huge hospital bills in case their kids are infected. The need of the hour is to keep oneself alive everything else is secondary. Yes kids are missing certain things while studying online but this is an exceptional pandemic situation where normal education has to take a back seat. The child needs to be alive and so also the parents to live and fight another day. So please keep all the high fi medical jargon aside come down and try to understand the ground reality.

Covid Work Force is not a political body. It's a team of medical experts. No one from the school management is a member or private school mafia has controlled it. If the committee suggests to reopen the school there must be some valid and justified reason. an Don't waste your time thinking Dr Shetty is a heart specialist and not an epidemiologist. It doesn't make sense. Go through the report of the committee and come to a conclusion. We indians are known for jumping the gun. Unless and until we fall in line with rest of the world we can not make our next generation as global competitors in every walk of their life. For the sake of our children let us take a calculated risk and be vigilant about their health.uture of our childrprepare our children to compete with the rest of the world. Otherwise India will

Very well said by Agnes...i really get nightmares of third wave which will be entering very soon....Experts predicted third wave will target children. When second wave only not under control, whats the necessity to open schools so urgently and push parents into stress and anxiety. Have they vaccinated the children? Whose property who wants to destroy? Let them start the classes online after collecting fees like last time without any hesitation. It will be difficult for the parents to meet the expenses of the hospital as well as their fees...

Schools should not have been closed in the first place.Because of the Thymus gland which produces T cells, children can resist respiratory viruses. Only those children who have comorbidities could have been provided books, telephonic and online guidance for learning from home.If at all children spread the virus to adults it would have helped adults in developing antibodies. Lockdown was unscientific, there was no need --adults or children.

Where was the Thymus gland when children are being orphaned when both parents are infected and died. Even doctors themself have no clue what they are dealing with the result we see thousands of doctors dying all over India and the world. Dr. Devi Shetty is just a cardiologist and not a pandemic expert. As long as irresponsible people are thronging public places, places of worship and as long as a well tested vaccine is not ready for children, they should not be experimented upon with such hasty opening of schools. Medical infrastructure is pathetic in India and moreover doctors are pushing schools to open so that more patients increase more money hospitals can squeeze from patients.

Data from all the countries shows kids or youngsters are never in any sort of danger due to corona virus infections as most of the times it's mild cold and fever like symptoms only are witnessed. They never infected any teachers or their parents or teachers never passed it to the students. Now in US states all schools and colleges are opened and no significant difference is noted in infections. As such no pandemic protocols are necessary for a presumed waves. No unhealthy masks and sanitizers too are necessary. To protect 1% vulnerable people 99% people never need to get vaccinated too. Only that vulnerable population need to be vaccinated if vaccines are so good in protecting them. If it doesn't protect them then time to end this self proclaimed saviour which had failed to create antibodies in recipients. 99.997% recovery rate with or without any medicines at home itself is not eligible to be called a pandemic but only a scamdemic to market vaccines and govts are doing dalali by imposing lockdowns to create fear in people for 0.003% mortality rate planndemic.

See the news ...heading goes like this..."Dr Devi Shetty panel suggests setting up children’s hospitals, HDU, ICUs in state to tackle 3rd wave". Why dr. Devi shetty is not the incharge of panel ? If theres no fear, why he says so? In this news, he said to open up the schools ....Two two statements from Dr. Shetty is confusing....

Dr. Devi Shetty what a senseless Decision. Is it better for children to be safe at home and study online safe gaurd their lives in the current unpredictable exceptional situation or to go school get exposed die or suffer life long covid side effects which is more terrible than sitting at home and wasting one or two years. Schools are not going to take any responsibility for the students they care only for the hefty fees. Teachers are not willing to teach in two shifts and private school management's just ignore any Government directives. When schools were started this year it was clearly seen students being dumped together in each class with no social distancing, no one to monitor the covid rules for children, management and teachers themselves openly flouting covid rules not wearing masks showing casual attitude. Out children's lives are more important have a look at Maharashtra where children were effected by Covid later they developed black fungus and lost their eyes.
