Panaji, Sep 1: A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight made an emergency landing at Manohar International Airport in Mopa, Goa, on Tuesday after reporting a technical issue shortly after take-off.

IndiGo said flight 6E 2102, operating from Delhi to North Goa, developed the technical issue soon after departure. Following standard safety procedures, the pilots informed the relevant authorities and turned the aircraft back, landing safely at Mopa Airport.

The aircraft has been taken for maintenance checks and will resume operations only after receiving the required clearances, the airline said.

IndiGo apologised for the inconvenience caused to passengers and said refreshments and timely updates were provided. Alternative travel arrangements were also made for passengers to reach their destination.

Meanwhile, domestic airlines are facing higher operating costs following another increase in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices. State-owned oil marketing companies have raised ATF prices by Rs 6.28 per litre, taking the rate from Rs 115 to Rs 121.28 per litre.

This is the second consecutive monthly increase in ATF prices. The fuel price was raised by Rs 5 per litre in August.

ATF accounts for a significant share of airline operating costs, and sustained increases in jet fuel prices could put pressure on airfares. However, ticket prices are also determined by factors including passenger demand, competition and seat availability.
