Bahrain: Bahrain Billawas Organize Soft Ball Cricket Tournament

Bahrain, Dec 3: Guru  Seva  Samithi, Billawas – Bahrain, conducted a cricket tournament during the Eid holidays at the Indian Club Bahrain. It was 7-a-side soft ball cricket tournament and 12 Kannadiga teams participated in the tournament that was held on November  28 and 29.

More than 500 spectators witnessed the finals between the teams,  Standard Chartered  Bank Vs Chak De India.

The Indian School band was an added attraction at the finals, and they succeeded in thoroughly entertaining all the audiences.

Chak De India won the toss and elected to field. Standard Chartered Bank scored 38 runs, posing a target of 39 runs for Chak De India team to chase.







































Earlier Chak De India team had beaten Kundapur Freidns team in the semi finals, while the Stabdard Chartered Bank team beat E M Dekor team. In the finals, Chak De India team scored 39 runs in 5.4 overs and lifted the Bahrain Billawas’ Cricket Trophy – 2009, the first such tournament conducted by Bahrain Billawas.

At the closing ceremony and presentation of awards function held at the end of the finals, dignitaries were called to the dais and were presented with mementos and trophies.

Special awards were presented to Ashwin of Chak De India for holding the best catch. Chak De India team also bagged the awards for its members, Vishwas for being the best batsman, Nishant for being the best bowler and Kamal for being the Man of the Match. Vasant of Standard Chartered Bank bagged the award meant for the Man of the Series.

Rajkumar, president of Billawa’s Bahrain, presented the winner’s trophy to Chak De India team and mementos to all the players.

All the cricket lovers fully enjoyed two days of fun and frolic. While proposing vote of thanks, the organizers specially thanked Daijiworld.com for the coverage.
